We are urgently looking for foundations or organizations that would support our project!
In the city of Werne, there are currently few opportunities for wheelchair users to participate in leisure activities. Many of the city's buildings are listed buildings and there are only limited building plots available for new projects. Therefore, the focus should be on improving existing buildings. Even though the city repeatedly stresses that it would like to make improvements, the necessary financial resources are often lacking. Trust in public institutions has decreased in recent years, which is understandable given the limited resources.
It is therefore all the more important that citizens also become active and initiate change.
The restaurateurs in Werne are facing similar challenges. Due to the decreasing number of guests in bars and restaurants, income is also decreasing. The profits that remain after deducting running costs are shrinking more and more, making it difficult for restaurateurs to make the necessary changes to make their establishments wheelchair accessible - even if they have the will to do so. It would be desirable for restaurateurs to receive more support for their work, for example through subsidies or funding from the city. This would enable them to adapt their establishments to the needs of all guests.
In Werne, however, there are opportunities to convert the entrances and toilets of restaurants to make them wheelchair accessible. The biggest obstacle is the lack of financial resources. Therefore, foundations are being sought that are willing to support these projects; e.g. by collecting donations to raise the necessary funds for these changes.
